Mental Health Awareness Week!

phtcounselling

In your office trying to meet a tight deadline? Stressed over how you have so much work but still procrastinate in doing it? Or upset that what you expected didn’t happen and instead went the opposite way.

As you all may know, there are many other reasons for stress because of course, where we go, stress just loves to follow us. Yes, it is Men’s mental health awareness week (13-19 Jun 2022), but we consider everyone’s mental health as it is very important. (not me stating the obvious). Instead of skimming through this I want everyone to take a moment… yes just 1 minute of your life, okay maybe 5😊… to answer these questions, either in your head or on a notepad and BE HONEST.

  • How are you actually feeling today?

  • Is there anything that is making you feel stressed out lately? If so what is it?

  • What do you think may have caused it?

  • Do you think you know how it can be solved?

  • What steps should you take in order to help improve your situation?

  • When will you be taking action for the above steps?

  • What outcome did you get?

You may be thinking that this requires a lot of effort and time but if you actually follow the questions and answer them as honestly as possible, you will see how useful it is to think about yourself for a moment. Taking your mental health into consideration is probably the best thing you can do since we all stay busy with work, home, school, university, whatever it is, one way or the other we consider ourselves being productive even if we’re not. As I always say though, it is better to speak out then keep it in and I am always here for anyone who wants to talk, even if it is something small, I’ll be ready to listen.

Now what would really help is to share some of your thoughts and feelings below. On the other hand, you can just send me an email with your answer and I would love to hear those responses. So, before I get into writing an essay, lets finish off with a beautiful quote:

" I think it’s really important to take the stigma away from mental health... My brain and my heart are really important to me. I don’t know why I wouldn’t seek help to have those things be as healthy as my teeth" ~Kerry Washington from Huffpost~
